Small Successes - March 31

FaithButton

It’s important for moms to recognize that all the small successes in our days can add up to one big triumph. So here are mine..
  1. started my third quarter as an accounting lab instructor yesterday
  2. cleaned out the attic/playroom.  we have lots of stuff to give away but just haven't catalogued it (for its deductible) and sent it on its way (next weeks success???)
  3. filed for scholarships for the kids next year.  last year we missed out because I forgot

10 facts about my better half and me....

  1. We met in business school in passing I thought he was annoying (he had this huge duffel bag that blocked my mailbox)
  2. We met at a party over Christmas vacation and I thought he was adorable (he was sitting on a sit-n-spin playing with our friends little girl)
  3. We met several other times at school's Thursday Night Social Club before I asked him if he was going to ask me out or what
  4. I would have married him after 3 months of dating
  5. But we dated for over a year before he popped the question at a Stop Light.  I did not believe him
  6. We were married 23 months after our first date
  7. We have three children born within the first 3 years of our marriage
  8. Everytime our wedding song plays I must sing it to him even though he does not like that so much... the song was "From this Momment" by S Twain
  9. He is my sanitiy - he keeps me on track; I am his laziness - I remind him it is OK if it does not get done right away
  10. I can't image my life without him

Small Successes - March 24

FaithButton

It’s important for moms to recognize that all the small successes in our days can add up to one big triumph. So here are mine..
  1. Spring Break was a success!!! We went up North to Traverse City MI and stayed at the Great Wolf Lodge. We ended up telling the kids on that Friday (Hubby could not handle the secrecy).  They  had so much fun!  It makes me happy when we do things like that for the kiddos.
  2. I had my first Swedish massage ever and really enjoyed it.  Hubby won a massage, mani and pedi and gave it to me.  I was anxious about the massage but in the end the lady who did it was very respectful of my uncomfortableness with it all and it went well.
  3. Cleaned out the garage!  Wednesday was nice weather wise (nearly 60) and hubby decided to clean out the garage.  He started it while I was out running errands and I helped him finish (I had to make the throw away, give away, keep decisions)
  4. BONUS:  had my bone density test last Thursday and the results came back great.  My density has increased thanks to exercise, vitamins, and fosamax!

Small Successe - March 17

FaithButton

It’s important for moms to recognize that all the small successes in our days can add up to one big triumph. So here are mine..
  1. Happy St. Patrick Day's!  The kids had a jeans day today at school and I went out and bought all new green shirts (without the schools name on it) for the kids at Kohl's and I saved more than I spent  - LOVE THAT!  Also bought the boys new swim suits.
  2. Miss C's birthday party was a success.  Feed everyone - talked to nearly everyone - did not have a pre-party meltdown towards my hubby & kids like I normally do.
  3. Booked a surprise Spring Break trip for the kids. They don't know anything about it and I am trying to figure out how to keep it on the low-down until we are nearly there.

Catholic Media Promotion Day - March 15 2011

"The web is contributing to the development of new and more complex intellectual and spiritual horizons, new forms of shared awareness. In this field too we are called to proclaim our faith that Christ is God, the Saviour of humanity and of history, the one in whom all things find their fulfillment (cf. Eph 1:10)"

Monday Morning Muse....

This weekend was another crazy one here in Marion.  At least we stayed in town for most of it no driving North :)

Friday we had D's IEP meeting with the Speech Teacher.  We are keeping him in speech one more year to work on his stuttering strategies.  He has nearly all of his sounds worked out - just has trouble with /r/ in the middle of a word.  However, his stuttering is still causing problems in the classroom.  The new teacher has some strategies she and D are going to work on and then pass them on to us to help implement at home.   Then Miss C had her 7 year well visit - and everything is good there!  She is 47 inches tall and 48 lbs!  She needs one more inch for all the cool rides at the amusement park and water park.  Hopefully she can stand really tall and straight and be allowed to ride.  Then I had to make up time for missing on Tuesday at work.  It was nice because I was all alone!

Saturday I worked out and was gone for nearly 2 hours!  not good.  C had basketball and scored her first basket of the season.  I missed it because I was making her birthday cake (hope to have pictures soon) since we were going to be running around all night long (or at least that is how it seemed).  After bball the men of the family watched the Buckeyes and then we headed out to Polaris to do shopping for the party on Sunday.  We hit CostCo, CPK, Hobby Lobby, Cracker Barrel, and Barnes & Nobles before heading back home.

Sunday was the family birthday party!  It is so much work to get the house clean & decorated, food cooked, and cake made BUT it was so worth it!  She had a great time - the family seemed to have a great time (minus the drive with detours due to flooding) - so to me that is a success!

It was such a action packed weekend now I need a few days to relax before the next weekend.

Small Successes - March 10

FaithButton

It’s important for moms to recognize that all the small successes in our days can add up to one big triumph. So here are mine..
  1. Celebrated Miss C's 7th birthday - where has the time gone.  My kids are now 7, 8, and 9.  At least for the next month.  P turns 10 in April.
  2. Started our own Lenten adventure.  Mind you it has only been one day but no one complained during the Rosary last night.  That is a big step for this family.
  3. Went to prayer service and received Ashes - first time in a long, long time.  With working it has been hard to go and since it is not a HDO it is easy to pass up.
  4. Bonus - drove to and from Cleveland on Saturday for family eye appointment and mother-in-laws birthday gathering.

Happy Birthday Baby Girl

Today my baby girl turns SEVEN years old today.  So I guess she is not really a baby any more.  Today we are celebrating just the 5 of us and giving her our presents.

Monday Morning

Today it is a gray and cold day.  I really want spring weather.  My bulbs are starting to emerge from the ground. I can't wait for the scent of hyacinth's blooming.

Lent is just around the corner and it happens to start on Miss C's birthday.  We will still have cake and ice cream for her but outside of that we will begin our Lenten sacrifices and growth opportunities.

My personal sacrifices are - 1) giving up Facebook; 2) limiting time on the PC (not counting work) and 3) not over snacking.

My growth opportunities are 1) spiritually - follow my black book meditations daily; pray the Rosary with the family; and confession and 2) health - exercise on non-gym days

Small Successes - March 3

FaithButton

It’s important for moms to recognize that all the small successes in our days can add up to one big triumph. So here are mine..
  1. We finished up the boys basketball season!  what a season that was the off court activity was ridiculous but it is now done and the boys had fun so isn't that all what matters.
  2. Sent out Miss C's 7th birthday invites via Smilebox this year so they would be out in time for her party.  She helped design the invite.  You can see it in an earlier post. edit - had to remove it since it had our address and phone number on it but it was very cute and played Big Night by Big Time Rush (her favorite band at this moment)
  3. Have decided our Lenten family activity.  The Columbus Diocese has a Rosary patch for both boy and girl scouts.  So we are going to work on that as a family as well as learning about the Stations of the Cross (not sure if they are really learning about these at their parish school).

strengthen the relationship

I need to remind myself while helping my children with their homework that the point of my helping is not to discount what they are doing but to praise them.  Please Lord look over me during these times and aide me in my relationship with my children.  Amen
